Konrad Adenauer Stiftung – Germany. The next chapter Awake from slumber
Alfred Ermer, CEO of the newly founded arago da vinci GmbH, was featured in the magazine “Germany. The next chapter”, published by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. The article describes how platform-based companies like Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon (GAFA) have become some of the most prosperous companies throughout the last decade and have thereby disrupted the market situation.
Qualities which companies will require to stay competitive are, for example, an excellent “brand”, “continuous innovation”, “an exceptional service,” and new “exponential business models”. The key ingredient to better master future challenges is the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Used the right way, AI can free up time and resources, so companies can use these “extra” resources to focus on business transformation.
Furthermore, Ermer debunks some myths about AI. Machines do not understand, they can only compare data to predefined patterns. Machines do not resemble human brains. The human brain has billions of neurons, while a machine only has a few millions of neurons. AI is not something that happens in the future. AI is happening right at this moment.
